In the early 1970s, Peter Berlin was That Boy (the title of one of his films)--the icon of a newly "out" gay male sexuality that not only didn't hide or deny itself, but posed, preened, and pranced across the pages of the media and the streets of urban America. Peter was all six of the Village People several years before the Village People even existed! I used to see Peter in San Francisco when I lived there in the 1980s, and he always looked great and oozed sexy. I'm told he's still going strong, though I believe he has returned to his native Germany.
